The Bodhise Holistic Healing Group (BHHG) was founded in 1976 by Dr. Paul Brown Bodhise. The BHHG is dedicated to the goal of bringing about a healthy society through the use of natural and alternative therapies combined with spiritual awareness to bring about a holistic approach to maximizing the quality of life.

The BHHG has instituted a number of programs to help meet its objectives, namely:

OASIS Healing Village
Located at 605-609 S. 11th Street in Philadelphia. The Holistic Healing offers the following services:

Apprenticeship Programs - Certified Holistic Practitioner/Massage Therapist
The program consists of lectures, demonstrations and hands on healing, giving certification to those who complete the course. The Apprentice Curriculum consists of:

Bodhise Holistic Institute
Dedicated to training the professional community and lay persons in holistic techniques. We seek to fulfill our mission with emphasis on educational outreach and instruction in a variety of holistic healing arts respected internationally. Our Institute provides information on improving health, reducing stress, handling hard to cure illnesses and many of the complex health problems facing society. Our Apprenticeship/Internship program provides instructions in massage therapy, herbology and holistic health concepts (See Apprenticeship)

Sickle Cell Pain Management Project
A patient trial authorized by 3 Philadelphia area Hematology Hospital departments and our OASIS Holistic Healing Village to provide holistic/alternative healing services to individuals with severe advanced Sickle Cell Disorders. See more information on the management of sickle cell pain.

A Celebration of Miracles
A free annual event sponsored by the BHHG and The Ambassadors of Peace. This event is an interfaith gathering honoring international dignitaries from different faith. This event was inspired by Ela Ghandi, the granddaughter of Mahatma Ghandi, who spoke at the United Nations Conference on Non-Violence urging grassroots organizations dedicated to this theme to hold local activities promoting world peace. At this public forum, descriptive information on many faiths is provided, to better inform people of the common bond between them. Its mission is to foster a more tolerant, forgiving and compassionate attitude to cultural and religious differences, as well as similarities.

The Ambassadors of Peace
This is an organization under the Bodhise Holistic Healing Group that was created at the United Nations conference in 1999. "The Ambassadors of Peace" is one organization under the World Organization for Non-violence. The mission is to foster non-violence in the local community and the international arena by creating activities such as the annual interfaith Celebration of Miracles event and hosting interfaith governmental and religious dignitaries.

Holistic Education

Certified Holistic Practitioner / Certified Massage Therapist Apprenticeship

Hands on Apprentice Workshops conducted personally by Dr. Bodhise. The program consists of lectures, demonstrations and hands on healing, giving certification to those who complete the course.

The Bodhise Neuro-Muscular Healing Technique™

A Deep Pressure, Deep Tendon, Neuro-Muscular-Manipulative Massage Technique

Dr. Paul Brown designed this technique Bodhise during his twenty years of education including: Manipulation, Rolfing, Neuro-Muscular Trigger-Point Therapy, Accupressure, Zone Therapy, Shiatsu, and his experience with various patients. This technique directs itself to the healing of musculo-skeletal injuries and lesions, which have thwarted previous treatment. The objective is to alleviate pain, discomfort, and loss of function. Its affect helps to revitalize and increases the healing of tendons, ligaments, muscle and bone by increasing cellular metabolism and reproduction.

How is this technique applied?

This is a hands on medicinal healing technique applied by Dr. Bodhise, for proper application to the various aspects of the bodily anatomy once lesions have been palpated. The doctor determines where and how the force is applied and its angulization. The Bodhise Neuro-Muscular Healing Technique is approached very cautiously in order to make certain that no further injury is made to the patient.

Who can have this technique?

Only after careful review of case histories, physical findings, X-rays and MRIs, neurological reports, and an analysis of the patient’s constitution, is the patient cleared for this kind of technique by the doctor.

What the technique does.

This technique is designed to increase the blood flow to target organs, increase the movement of the lymphatic fluids, create changes in stress levels in the interior aspects of the injury site and joint-muscular and/or organ structures. These fundamental changes at the site of the lesion causes a healing to the interior aspects of the injury site, a turnover of cellular reproduction and an overall positive change in the metabolism of the body in general. There is a change in the glandular and hormonal flow at the site and throughout the body, giving an effect of reduction of pain, increased mobility and strengthening of the structure and its functioning.

Patient Responsibilities:

It is important to report any changes that may occur directly to the doctor as soon as you return for your next treatment. It is important not to exercise or extensively use the joints or the area of the body more so than directed. Follow the specific instruction given by the doctor only. This is a medical procedure and should not be attempted by uncertified persons.
